The 2022 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Volnay is a highly praised, elegant 100% Pinot Noir that exemplifies the legendary estate’s masterly reach into the red terroirs of the Côte de Beaune. While widely celebrated for its iconic white Meursaults, Lafon's 2022 red vintage marks the first year produced under the direction of Léa and Pierre Lafon, with Dominique Lafon continuing as a guiding presence. The 2022 vintage yielded beautiful quality and excellent concentration following a hot, dry summer. True to the estate's long-term standards, the fruit is harvested by hand and farmed using strict organic and biodynamic principles. The wine undergoes native-yeast fermentation and spends 18 to 22 months in oak barrels (roughly one-third new oak) before being bottled under Diam technical corks to prevent cork taint.

On the palate, the hot, dry conditions of the 2022 vintage reveal themselves through a beautifully concentrated, fleshy core of red fruit that remains remarkably light on its feet. Its smooth, velvety texture is perfectly balanced by vibrant acidity and fine, powdery tannins derived from its Santenots Premier Cru young-vine sourcing.
