Description

The bodega itself is called San Luis and resides in Sanlúcar de Barrameda near the Guadalquivir River, at sea level. Actually, it was right on the shore until the 18th century, when the sea started to move away. No need to say there is a constant exposure to sea breezes. The bodegas contain about 10,000 botas, many of them over 200 years old. Hidalgo – La Gitana produces about 200,000 cases of sherry and brandy each year. Miraflores, the Grand Cru of Jerez Superior, to the southeast of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The chalky dune overlooks the Atlantic and offers perfect conditions for the ripening of the Palomino grape and the production of the region’s finest dry wines. Hidalgo’s ancestral Pastrana site, a monopole holding, is at the heart of Miraflores, just 1.5 miles from the Atlantic. It imparts great length and finesse to their wines, and a decision was taken a few years ago to market small quantities of the most exemplary Manzanilla from this superlative vineyard. This wine was the first single-vineyard sherry on the market. Pasada is like a Reserva and aged 12 years, resulting in a wine that is both nutty and fresh. Rich gold color, complex with layers of gold and green at the rim. Classic saline nose and palate, but with an entirely new dimension of rich creaminess. 15% ABV. Vegan & Organic.
