Description
Foris Vineyards was founded by Ted Gerber, who moved to the remote Illinois Valley in Southern Oregon in 1971. Driven by a vision to cultivate grapes in a region many considered too cold and high-altitude for viticulture, Gerber planted his first vines in 1974. Over the decades, Foris became a pioneer of the Rogue Valley AVA, particularly known for its "alpine-style" wines that lean into the area's extreme diurnal temperature shifts. Today, the estate remains family-owned and operated, maintaining a reputation for producing high-quality, estate-grown Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, and Riesling that reflect the rugged, loamy terrain of the Siskiyou Mountains.
The 2024 Cedar Ranch Pinot Noir is characterized by its vibrant, fruit-forward aromatics and elegant structure. On the nose, it offers a complex bouquet of boysenberry, dark cherry, and hints of lavender, underpinned by earthy notes of sandalwood and loamy forest floor. The palate is medium-bodied and silky, delivering a concentrated core of blackberry and plum flavors balanced by a crisp acidity typical of high-elevation vineyards. The finish is clean and lingering, featuring fine-grained tannins that provide a sophisticated framework for the wine's fruit and spice components.
