Description
From the clay and limestone soil of Eichberg Grand Cru, situated on the steep slopes leading down from Husseren-les-Chateaux. The elevation here is up to 400 m, which makes it one of the highest vineyard sites in Alsace, imparting a great sense of freshness on the wines despite its south-easterly aspect. The grapes were gently macerated in whole bunches for 2 weeks before being pressed into old barriques for a 9-month élevage. This shows a lovely combination of aromatic spice and an almost tea-like quality on the palate with vibrant acidity and fine tannins. About as complex a wine as we have ever tasted from this variety.
