Description
The Monchhof Estate Riesling is 100% Riesling grown from vineyards near Urzig, Germany. The Monchhof (translates to “Monk's House”) Winery was started on a charter from the Pope in 1177, there is a stone Roman wine press on the site that dates back to Roman times. The current Estate buildings and wine cellar were completed in 1509 and the current owners, the Eymael family, purchased the facility in 1807. Grown on all iron-infused Devon Slate, this wine tastes like biting into a ripe white peach, juicy, rich, creamy and sweet, with a full aroma. The wine offers great minerality and beautiful acidity to balance the sweetness. Most of the fruit comes from the famous grand cru vineyard site “Würzgarten” (spice garden) in the village of Ürzig, which gives the wine its spicy profile.
