The 2020 Magoutes Vineyard Xinomavro from the high-altitude, rocky limestone terroir of PGI Siatista in Western Macedonia, Greece, offers a remarkably elegant and structured expression of this noble indigenous variety. On the nose, this certified organic, medium-bodied red opens with a highly perfumed, vivid bouquet of wild red flowers, lilac, and poppies, layered with complex, savory undertones of dried sour cherry, pomegranate skin, and tomato leaf. The palate is youthful and taut, where a vibrant, lifted acidity cuts through hints of pink citrus and concentrated red fruits. Firm, finely grained tannins provide a classical Nebbiolo-like frame, leading into a long, linear, and deeply mineral finish marked by a distinct, chalky austerity and mountain-herb complexity.
