FERRY PLAZA CHEESE MERCHANT, with Head Cheesemonger Evan McLean at the helm, opened with a "soft launch" on September 12th.
No, that does not mean "soft" cheeses only . . . :>)
The Ferry Building Marketplace has not had a cheese merchant since the much celebrated Cowgirl Creamery closed more than 6 years ago. Their departure was not due to a lack of interest - to the contrary! Peggy and Sue were ready to retire, and the Swiss firm that purchased Cowgirl Creamery wanted to focus on production, as well as the import/distibution side of the business known as Tomales Bay Foods.
With the space directly next to our Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant unoccupied, the time was right to bring a proper Cheese Merchant back to the Ferry Building Marketplace.
Our rotating selection will feature local, other American and international cheeses and charcuterie along with a variety of condiments - everything you might need for a quick snack, simple cheese board at home, or a more elaborate Special Order board for a business event or special occasion.
Initial hours will be 11 am-6 pm Sunday-Friday, 10 am-6 pm on Saturdays.
