Description
This is a fun sparkling wine blend of Ugni Blanc, Chardonnay and Airen (an ancient Spanish varietal). It is fruity and clean with nice finishing acidity and is a great deal for only $13 a bottle! It hails from the Loire Valley in France and is produced by the company whose founding father discovered, over 100 years ago, a new, less expensive way to produce sparkling wine. French engineer, Eugene Charmat, developed a way to make sparkling wine via carbonation in large stainless steel tanks, versus a secondary fermentation in bottle, as is done with the Champagne method. Today, sparkling wines all over the world, most notably in Italy with Prosecco, are made using the Charmat method.
