Description
The Médeville family has been in the Sauternes region of Bordeaux since the 1700s. Today, great-grand-daughter, Julie, is famous for her Château Gillette Sauternes and manages the family's 30+ hectares of vineyard holdings in Sauternes and surrounding Bordeaux appellations.
Julie is married to Xavier Gonet, who is from a long line of Champagne growers in Le Mesnil Sur Oger. Once he started to inherit his vines they started their own label, Gonet-Médeville in 2000. It is a small, 12 hectare estate in the village of Bisseuil between Mareuil-Sur-Ay and Bouzy, of Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards. They produce a vintage Extra Brut and Grand Cru Ambonnay, a Cuvée Tradition, a Brut Rosé and this lovely Blanc de Noirs, made from 100% Premier Cru Pinot Noir.
Pale golden hue. Ripe and concentrated, with a frothy mousse. Inviting aromas of brioche and ripe apples. It displays a charming balance of bright acidity on the creamy, medium bodied palate, finishes on a beautiful mineral note.
