Champagne De Reyve is the flagship label of Union Champagne (founded in 1966), an Avize-based consortium of 15 winemaking cooperatives, made up of approximately 2,330 members, whose vines extend over nearly 1,500 hectares across the Champagne region. They have a staggering 615 hectares of Grand Cru vineyard land, 615 hectares of Premier Cru vineyard land, and 135 hectares of other excellent vineyard land. Most of these vineyards are nestled in the sought-after Côte des Blancs region, where they own more Grand Cru acreage than all the other Champagne houses combined. Historically, most of the Union Champagne wines were sold to the region’s iconic houses, a practice which still accounts for a sizable proportion of their business. The decision to launch their own label was a bold and fortuitous move!
With the goal of crafting a classical, terroir-driven Champagne, this bottling is a combination of 64% Chardonnay and 36% Pinot Noir (including 37% of reserve wine), sourced from the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims regions.
Golden hue. Classic aromas of fresh green apples and citrus with a hint of toast. The palate is clean, with flavors of fresh green apples, lemon flesh and a hint of almond. Vibrant, with a light, frothy mousse and a dusting of chalky minerality. Lively and expressive through the elegant, softly fruited finish.
