Description
We never knew we liked Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc together in a wine until we discovered the Reserve della Contessa bottling from the Manincor estate in Alto Adige. A blend of 55% Pinot Blanc, 28% Chardonnay and 17% Sauvignon Blanc, this 2023 yet again strikes that ideal balance of weight, texture and acidity in a thoroughly charming way. Grapes were de-stemmed and left to macerate in the press for six hours to leach out aroma substances and body from the skins. Fermentation took place in oak and stainless steel tanks with yeasts naturally occurring in the vineyard. The young wine was subsequently matured on the fine lees for six months to enable the aromas and flavor to evolve.
Its secrets are subtlety and elegance, one could almost say aristocratic. A pale white wine with delicate aromas, just the thing for festive occasions. The nose is characterized by an aroma of apple, apricot and a hint of sage; tightly-knit, elegant and mellow on the palate with refreshing acidity on the finish.
