Description
The Chocolate Block, nicknamed a “wine with secrets to keep”, is a delicious red blend from Boekenhoutskloof winemaker Marc Kent. The exact proportions vary from year to year, but draw heavily on old vine blocks in Swartland, especially Goldmine and Porseleinberg Vineyards. In 2022 the final blend is 77% Syrah, 9% Grenache, 8% Cinsault and 1% Viognier, making it similar to southern Rhone wines and Rhonish blends from elsewhere. With supple tannins and succulent fruit, it is also a crowd-pleasing blend that has an international following. We have not had The Chocolate Block on the shelves for several vintages and are pleased to present it once again. Peter Granoff, MS
