Description
Domaine Tessier was founded in 1961 by Roger Tessier, with his son Philippe taking the reins 20 years later in 1981. They are located in the heart of the Cheverny and Cour-Cheverny AOCs and currently have 23 hectares of vines. The lovely 2022 Cheverny Blanc is 80% Sauvignon Blanc with 10 % each of Menu Pineau and Chardonnay, farmed organically since 1998 and made with minimal SO2.
Aromatically, there are a lot of textbook Sauvignon Blanc notes, but is still far from the intensely grassy and tropical, lychee-driven aromatics of many Sauvignon Blancs across the globe. What the Cheverny Blanc also has is a bit of texture. It is refreshing, but also broad in the mouth, evolving quite a bit as it opens. A wine that will disappear quickly thanks to its crisp drinkability, but will also reward those who take a moment to pay attention.
