Description
Salicutti is located in the southeastern corridor of Montalcino, home to some of the denomination’s most historic, respected, and classic-leaning wineries. It was Montalcino’s first certified organic estate, with certification happening in 1996. The high-altitude site, which has never seen synthetic chemicals, comprises 11 hectares (4.5 ha of vines and the rest woods and olives). The vineyards are all contiguous to the farmhouse, which is perched on a ridge with stunning views, including of Monte Amiata, Tuscany’s largest extinct volcano.
100% Sangiovese from estate vineyards: A blend of fruit from the Sorgente, Piaggione, and Teatro parcels. Vines sit at 420–500 meters in calcareous sandstone, clay, and marne-rich soils. 25-day maceration with controlled-temperature fermentation in cement tanks. Aged 40 months in 10 and 20 hL barrels, followed by at least 12 months in the bottle. The 2021 Salicutti Brunello di Montalcino is a vibrant, full-bodied, and highly structured wine. It delivers aromas of wild red cherries, lavender, violets, and sweet earth. On the palate, it balances rich fruit sweetness with crisp acidity, polished velvety tannins, and a mineral-driven, graceful finish.
