Description

We happen to think that Schramsberg produces some of the best sparkling wines in California (and by extension, the country) which makes sense since that was the Davies' original objective when they resurrected the famous estate first established by Jacob Schram in 1862. At the time Jack & Jamie Davies took things over, their mission was simply to create America's best sparkling wine. That goal started to come to fruition when, on February 25, 1972, the 1969 Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs was served at the State dinner, “Toast to Peace” hosted by President Nixon for the Premier of China. That was the first time an American wine was served at any White House or State event and Schramsberg’s sparkling cuvées have been served at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue ever since. This 2020 Brut Rose is a blend of 48% Sonoma, 24% Napa, 22% Mendocino, 6% Marin Counties giving it the North Coast appellation. Winemakers Sean Thompson and Hugh Davies describe it as having "enticing aromas of raspberry, strawberry and peach, intermingled with layers of lemon shortbread, brioche and a hint of white florals. A bright entry of watermelon, cherry-limeade, candied orange and sugar cookie leads to a long quenching finish."
