Description
Muga is one of the most reliable producers in Rioja, producing wines that run the gamut from very traditional to thoroughly modern. Their Reserva is more in the traditional vein of red wines from the region. The blend is primarily Tempranillo, with Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano. Fermentation took place with indigenous yeasts in oak vats. Aged is for 24 months in used French and American oak casks. Prior to bottling, the wine was fined with fresh egg white. Once bottled, it was left to undergo a rounding process for twelve months minimum.
Producer notes: "This 2020 vintage has a bright ruby-red color, with medium depth and a garnet-tinged rim. On the nose, you discover an intense, complex wine. Aromas of wild fruits of the forest (blackberries and blueberries) come to the fore, with hints of spices. On the palate it is long, elegant and nicely balanced. Its sharp acidity is perfectly integrated and it has soft tannins. The finish is very long and full of fruit. Perfect for drinking now but, thanks to its good balance and structure, it can be kept in the bottle for several years."
