Description

We certainly count ourselves lucky to receive an allocation of Cathy Corison's spectacular Cabernet Sauvignons. We only wish we could get more, as they are gaining new fans every day and unfortunately, there is not as much to go around these days as there was a few years ago. Like all of Cathy's Cabernets, regardless of vintage "quality" this is another lovely, elegant wine that is showing beautifully now but will only get better with time in the cellar. As usual, she achieves just the right amount of fruit in balance with just the right amount of oak to make a truly graceful Cabernet Sauvignon. Cathy is an extremely talented yet incredibly humble winemaker who has quietly been crafting some of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa Valley since 1986. So when she describes her own wines, it is not with hubris or arrogance, just a clear confidence in what she was able to accomplish. In her own words, "The entire spectrum of Cabernet Sauvignon fruit flavors is present and accounted for, from red cherries and raspberries through blueberries, to purple plums, black cassis and marionberries, for remarkable complexity. A floral perfume of dried roses, violets and lavender is already jumping out of the glass. Signature Rutherford Dust minerality joins baking spices, notes of cocoa, dried thyme, and a whiff of tar and anise. Tannins that are firm and grippy, though velvety, lend structure and mouthfeel. It is going to be a lot of fun watching this wine over time." - Cathy Corison
