Description

Since 1705, the Counts of de Malet Roquefort are the owners of the Château La Gaffeliere, 1st Grand Cru Classe since 1959. In 2001 Alienor and Alexandre de Malet Roquefort fell under the spell of the Château Chapelle Maracan, which vineyards extend over the hills close to Saint-Émilion. In 2009, the couple renamed the estate to Chapelle d'Alienor in reference to Alienor d'Aquitaine, Queen of France and then England. Possessing some of the best qualities of Saint-Émilion, the Chapelle d'Alienor is one of the best values in red Bordeaux. 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. This property encompasses 52 hectares planted on gravel, limestone-clay. The wine is vinified in stainless steel before 8 months in once-used-barrels for 20% of the wine.
