Description

An assemblage of six Grand Cru terroirs that was disgorged October 2022 and finished with a 7g/L dosage. Light burnished gold with a pinpoint, vibrant bead, the 2014 flaunts alluring aromas of lemon confit, poached yellow apple, white flowers, and brioche with hints of white pepper. Medium-bodied with a textured, open-knit palate of plush orchard fruit and racy acid vibrancy, it has a long, mineral finish.

Each village has its own style. Le Mesnil-sur-Oger (20%): acidity, purity and chalky minerality. Avize (20%): balance and structure. Oger (20%), warmth, body and generosity. Cramant: smoky minerality. Chouilly: robustness and length. And finally, Oiry: acidity and roundness. To reprise the musical analogy, each territory has its own score and, when they are all played together to create Delamotte Blanc de Blancs 2014, each one can be heard in its own right. It is left to age over six long years. Not much, given the power of this wine. Its richness is equalled only by its concentration, and yet it remains light on its feet. It can even be generous… Such is the supreme elegance of a wine with aging potential!

Maison Delamotte was stablished over 260 years ago by François Delamotte in Reims. making it one of the five oldest Champagne houses. Their success rests on a respect for tradition, a dedication to quality, and a history of enticing wines that have been true to the heart of the legendary terroir. Marie-Louise de Nonancourt took the reins of Champagne Delamotte in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in 1927, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, the sub-appellation of Champagne where Chardonnay dominates. Her son Charles took over the management of the house from 1948 to 1988. Her second son, Bernard, began his career with his brother at Delamotte before taking over in 1949 the management of the Laurent-Perrier house, which Marie-Louise had managed to purchase between the two world wars. In 1988, Bernard de Nonancourt, established the Laurent-Perrier group by integrating the family house - Champagne Delamotte and also got the opportunity to purchase the neighboring, legendary Maison Champagne Salon, fulfilling a long-standing dream. The destiny of both Salon and Delamotte have been linked ever since.
