Description

Bodega Chacra was founded in 2004 by Piero Incisa della Rocchetta, whose family legacy includes the creation of Italy’s legendary "Super Tuscan," Sassicaia. While visiting Argentina, Piero discovered a neglected vineyard in the Río Negro Valley of Patagonia that had been planted with ungrafted Pinot Noir vines in 1932. Captivated by the unique terroir—an arid desert environment cooled by Antarctic winds and irrigated by glacial meltwater—he set out to produce world-class Pinot Noir that expressed purity and transparency. Today, the estate is a pioneer in South American viticulture, operating under strict organic and biodynamic principles to preserve the integrity of these old vines and the surrounding ecosystem.

The 2024 "Barda" is a masterclass in tension and crunchy red fruit, reflecting a vintage characterized by high energy and lower alcohol levels. On the nose, it is intensely aromatic, offering a bright bouquet of wild strawberries, pomegranate, and hibiscus layered with subtle hints of sandalwood and damp earth. The palate is light-to-medium-bodied and incredibly vivid, featuring snappy flavors of red cherry and plum supported by fine-grained tannins and a chalky, mineral-driven acidity. Because it is fermented in cement and aged with minimal new oak, the finish remains pure and focused, leaving a clean, floral impression that makes it remarkably easy to drink.
