Description
The 2023 Small Vines Chardonnay captures the essence of the Sonoma Coast’s cool-climate elegance with remarkable precision and energy. In the glass, it gleams a pale gold with green edges, hinting at youthful freshness. The nose opens with lemon curd, white peach, and Meyer lemon zest, followed by subtle layers of sea spray, crushed rock, and toasted hazelnut from well-integrated French oak. On the palate, it’s vibrant and finely textured, walking a graceful line between richness and tension. Flavors of golden apple, pear skin, and preserved lemon unfold over a core of saline minerality and taut acidity. The finish is long and pure, leaving notes of wet stone and vanilla bean that linger with coastal brightness. This vintage reflects Small Vines’ minimal-intervention ethos—precision-farmed fruit, restrained oak, and sculpted acidity—resulting in a Chardonnay that’s both classic and contemporary. Excellent with Dungeness crab, lobster risotto, or lemon-butter roast chicken.
Organically farmed.
