Description
The 2023 ‘His’ Vermentino was fermented whole cluster without destemming to enforce the savory element of the wine and provide structure. The grapes were harvested in two lots and were crushed by foot. The fermentation in contact with the skins lasted about 2 weeks. The wine was pressed to neutral barrels and aged 9 months. The 2023 His Vermentino stands out for its generous aromatics. Notes of white florals and early summer peaches lift from the glass. Stone fruits, brine and chamomile fill the palate. This orange rendition of Vermentino is vibrant and focused.
Las Brisas Vineyard is located in Sonoma County, California, specifically within the Los Carneros AVA that straddles the border with Napa County. Owned by Francis Mahoney, it's on the Sonoma side, benefiting from the region's cooling bay winds and sandy-clay soils ideal for Vermentino.
