Description

The Soave appellation lies on the outskirts of the beautiful city of Verona, the historic Northern Italian town famous as the home of Romeo and Juliet and, more recently, as the epicenter of the Italian wine industry during the annual VinItaly tasting event. Graziano Prà, a trailblazing Soave producer since 1983, transformed his family's historic vineyards in Monteforte d’Alpone into a benchmark for terroir-driven elegance. From humble beginnings selling grapes to cooperatives, he pioneered single-vineyard expressions like Monte Grande—farmed organically on volcanic slopes with minimal intervention—elevating Soave's global reputation through precision, longevity, and screwcap innovation.

The 2023 Prà Monte Grande Soave Classico captivates from the first pour with its brilliant straw hue and green-tinged shimmer. The nose bursts with ripe tangerine, juicy white peach, magnolia blooms, and crushed flint, layered over subtle volcanic smoke that hints at its Monte Grande vineyard origins from 60-year-old Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave vines. On the palate, it dances with impressive breadth yet featherlight poise: electric acidity drives zesty citrus, stone fruits, salty minerals, and candied orchard notes, finishing long and salivating with tropical melon echoes and inner florals. A masterclass in Soave's elegance and aging potential (drink now through 2040).
