Description
Three different blocks of the estate hillside Poseidon Vineyard in Carneros were harvested separately for this vintage. The final blend of fermented wine was pressed into 100% Kadar Hungarian oak barrels for eight months of aging before being bottled. And it is those Hungarian barrels, which come from the Kadar cooperage in Hungary that the Arpad family owns and imports, which help give this wine its truly silky and smooth texture. It might also contribute to the subtle smoky aroma that greets the fragrant nose. The palate is medium bodied with well saturated flavors of black cherry and darker toned red fruits. The wine ends with a nice spicy note and well integrated tannins on the really silky finish. This wine was gobbled up by our thirsty bar patrons recently and will be a nice staple on our Pinot shelf as long as we can keep it in stock! Tricycle Wine Partners was formed in 2003 between brothers, Arpad and Peter Molnar and winemaker, Michael Terrien, of Acacia fame. Arpad and Peter's father, Nicholas, immigrated to California from communist Hungary in 1956. He went on to plant the Poseidon Vineyard in 1973 in an uncharted area of Carneros, which eventually became a sub AVA of Napa Valley.
