Yamazaki is commenced by Shinjiro Torii in 1923 making it Japan's first commercial whisky distillery. Distillery lies on the foot of Mount Tennozan in southwestern Kyoto. It is under warm and humid climate which creates a particular character in maturation period. Yamazaki 12 year old was the first marketed Japanese single malt, therefore it is really important in Japanese whisky world. (Just like Glenfiddich 12 year old) Yamazaki 12 has a variety of aromas which are intense like honeysuckle, tropical fruits, spiced oak, orange peel. It is a great example of how intense and delicate a Japanese whisky can be.
