Hakushu Distillery is located in the former town of Hakushū, know a part of Hokuto, in the Yamanashi Prefecture on the slopes of Mount Kaikoma.
Suntory built Hakushu as their second distillery after Yamazaki. Creating a different style of malt whisky was their main objective. The name Hakushu means "white sandbar" which is refering to the geological formation of the area.
Hakushu 12 is a rich and refreshing single malt. Green tea and milk chocolate notes on the nose kicks a good start and palate has great vegetal notes, fruity character and hint of smoke.
