Brouwerij Huyghe is a brewery with a century old history, as the first brewing activities in Melle date back to 1654. In 1906, Léon Huyghe established the brewery. Since then the brewery carries the name Huyghe and the current CEO, Alain De Laet represents the fourth generation in the family brewery.
Delirium Nocturnum is slightly malty with a nice touch of alcohol and spicy flavor. It feels like the sound shot of alcohol is igniting the mouth. In reality, the tongue and palate are warmed. Aromas include notes of fruity plums, dried apricot, toffee, bonbons, figs and boozy maraschino cherries. The taste is characterized by its roundness. The carbonation really effects the taste, giving off spicy floral and clove notes upfront, with some banana, raisins and toffee in the middle of its incredibly light acidic body. There are notes of bitter coco and plums which shine through in the finish, with a bit more clove and herbal spice on the aftertaste. The aftertaste is strong, long-lasting and dry bitter.
