Aeneas McDonald stated that Glaswegians preferred full bodied and flavour packed whiskies, when he wrote his book 'Whisky' in 1930. Thus John Glaser created Glasgow Blend in pursuit of creating something similar to what McDonald told with a high malt content and a wonderful flavour packed blended Scotch.
Glasgow Blend consists of 34% grain whisky from Cameronbridge and 66% of malt whisky from Benrinnes, Laphroaig, Clynelish, Miltonduff and Highland malts aged in sherry, American oak and virgin French oak casks, Benrinnes taking the lead in volume.
Nose: Just after pouring you can feel Laphroaig with cold peat, seaweed, sea salt. Then dried fruits appear in an antique room filled with medical accessoies and red fruits, plums.
Palate: Creamy and concentrates on the mid-tongue. Cloves, honey, peat, ripe bananas and charcoal notes are felt with smooth texture of Benrinnes and Clynelish.
Finish: Medium long with bbq, tropical fruits and hints of orange. A must buy for neat or iced savoring!!
