Frank Boon is revered as a pioneer of lambic, having not only established a respectable name for himself in the industry but also because he has helped many smaller brewers by supplying them with fruit, allowing them to bottle on his premises and distributing their products. He even spearheaded a battle to protect the tradition of lambic and successfully established legal terms in Belgium to define oude geuze as apart from geuze. Now, according to EU law, an ‘oude gueze’ must meet certain conditions including average age, minimum OG, max pH, max bitterness, and max isoamyl acetate level. This 2013 ale consists of 95% mild lambic, aged at least three years and specially reserved for Mariage Parfait, and 5% young lambic. It is truly a delicious brew and is drinking very well right now!
