From the Producer: Åhus Akvavit is the culmination of over a century of locally honed distillation methods from its provenance and namesake, åhus, a tiny seaside village in southern sweden. For many decades, our distillery in Åhus was the country's hub for aquavit production. Today, we make only one, Åhus Akvavit, a modern expression of our heritage and craftmanship. A Write-Up by our Spirit Buyer: Once every year, Åhus Akvavit produces just 700 bottles of this special holiday spirit. In addition to some of the typical botanicals found in their flagship aquavit, the Midvinter also introduces cinnamon, apple, and vanilla in its ingredients. Nose: Sweet lemon and grapefruit zest. Pine, vanilla, apple, cinnamon and light baking spice follow. Underneath, classic aquavit fennel and caraway aromas. Palate: Fennel, pine, and vanilla unfold on the palate. Baking spices round out the finish. Hints of citrus and sweet black licorice linger throughout. JS
