Description
This 2018 Washington State Chardonnay comes 70% from the Woodward Canyon Estate Vineyard and 30% from the cool climate Celilo Vineyard in the Columbia Gorge AVA. It was 100% barrel fermented in French Burgundy barrels, 20% of which were new. Woodward Canyon is one of Washington state's finest producers and one of the originals. More known for their excellent Cabernet Sauvignon blends, they also have a great following for their Chardonnay, and for good reason. The oak integration is spot on with nary any evidence of wood flavor as it is there to add texture, weight and substance to the excellent quality of the fruit. And to let the tasty, varied flavors of apple, pear, peach along with a nice kick of hazelnut that comes through on the crisp, somewhat tart finish. This is a really well balanced, elegantly styled Chardonnay and we are proud to have it represent our Washington selection.
