John Lockwood started in the California wine industry in 2004 working at Heron Lake vineyard. He went on to work harvests at Littorai, Bodega Melipal in Argentina, and Failla Wines. He started Enfield Wine Co. in 2010 as small side-project while still working at Failla, and in 2013 Enfield became a full time project. Driven by soil first, Enfield seeks out vineyards that possess a distinct and powerful sense of place – across region, grape variety, and vine age. Working with small vineyards and independent growers, every step of the process is guided by the intent to maximize this character of terroir. The 2019 Citrine is a blend of 42-year-old own-rooted vines in the Sierra Foothills, 50-year-old vines from Napa, and fruit from Wild Horse Valley and Chalone. It is the freshness of California sunshine framed by white mineral soils of limestone, quartz and volcanic ash. Easy and outgoing upon first encounter - there are worlds to explore if you choose to have a longer conversation. Fragrant white tea, gummy bears, quince, lemon balm, medium weight and tactile on the palate, saline mineral finish. Drink Now. Aged in 2 Puncheons and 19 Barrels. Native Yeast Fermentation. Unfined & Unfiltered.
