This 2017 version of Ridge's old vine Zinfandel blend from the Geyserville Vineyard in Alexander Valley is a blend of 60% Zinfandel, 24% Carignane, 12% Petite Sirah and 4% Mataro (Mourvedre). It was aged for 13 months in 100% air-dried (as Ridge specifies) American oak barrels, 15% of which were new, 51% one and two years old and 34% three and four years old. Of this new version, winemaker, Eric Baugher, describes it as showing, "blackberry jam, candied plums, gravel, spearmint, sweet oak, tropical floral notes. Fresh, intense bramble fruit entry; lively acidity, elegant tannins, mint, gravelly earth." In other words, a classic, tasty Ridge wine that will appeal to any and all Zin fans or those who appreciate a well made, full-bodied delicious wine!
