Spread out on steep, narrow terraces, the Banyuls appellation overhangs the Mediterranean Sea. More than two thousand years old, the vineyards are still hand-worked, and are rooted in stony schist soils. M. Chapoutier Banyuls is a “vin doux naturel,” fortified wine that is exceptional and age-worthy. The wine shows a fantastic aroma of blackberry, plum, raisins, a little baking spice and some floral notes. Tasting the wine reveals lots of prunes, raisins, blackberry and black raspberry all wrapped up in a super smooth and lush texture. It ends with a super savory and sweet finish with very good length and lots more tart dark fruit.
