Woodward Canyon has been producing some of Washington State's best wines since the 1980s. And of all the great things they do, they are most admired for their stellar, quite age worthy Cabernet Sauvignons. This 2016 'Artist Series' is a blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petite Verdot. The grapes that went into this gorgeous wine come from the area's top vineyards including; Champoux Vineyard, Sagemoor Vineyard, Woodward Canyon Estate Vineyard and Summit View. The wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged for 24 months in mostly neutral French oak barrels. As owner, Rick Small and winemaker, Kevin Mott explain, the "this enticing and deeply colored red wine shows a complex nose of baking spice, black olive and graham integrated beautifully with aromas of ripe black fruits. In the mouth the wine is rich and elegant, showing subtle notes of herb and black berry. Integrated tannins enhance the texture and give proportion; the finish is complex, generous, and long. While this wine can be enjoyed now it will benefit greatly from additional cellaring and, with proper storage, should develop for ten years or more."
