Mas de Daumas Gassac Red and White blends are built to age and make for magical tasting experiences 20 to 30 years after release. This 2016 vintage is a blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 5% Tannat, 5% Petit Verdot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 3% Nebbiolo, 2% Dolcetto, 2% Pinot Noir and 2% Malbec. Yes, that's right, this wine has all those different varietals which were vinified separately and then aged together in 10-20% new French oak barrels for 18 months before bottling. It adds up to a gorgeous, thought provoking and complex wine that is almost too hard to describe, but we'll give it a try...wonderfully ripe but not overly fruity flavors of plum, cassis and sweet black cherry underscored by that intoxicating perfume of Daumas garrigue. Medium-bodied, supple and silky with seamlessly integrated tannins, this wine is fresh, vibrant and alive with an endearing character that only comes from Mas de Daumas Gassac.
