This 2017 Napa Valley Merlot from Duckhorn Vineyards is a delicious blend of 85% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc sourced from both their estate vineyards as well as other top sites in Napa Valley. It was aged in 40% new and 60% neutral French oak barrels for 16 months yet the vibrant red fruit flavors still take center stage with more subtle accents from the oak aging showing on the supple, velvety finish that is the classic Duckhorn style. 2017 was another great growing season and this wine is another wonderful expression of the excellent vintage in Napa Valley. Duckhorn is even more excited about the end result, and describes the wine as follows, "A classic expression of Napa Valley Merlot, this wine offers alluring aromas of lush cherry, raspberry, cocoa and freshly baked pie crust. The cherry and raspberry notes are echoed on the silky palate, where fine-grained tannins and flavors of ripe plum, blueberry, licorice and subtle baking spice draw the wine to a long, elegant finish."
