Description

Clos Figueras produces a total of four wines; three different levels of reds with the Serras del Priorat, Font de la Figuera and Clos Figueres and one white with this Font de la Figuera Blanco which is a blend of 65% Viognier, 30% Garnacha Blanc and 5% Chenin Blanc. It was fermented in stainless steel tank and a 500 liter barrel then aged another seven months on the lees before being bottled. This is a gorgeous, textural, fleshy beauty that perfectly expresses the fragrant splendor of these wonderfully aromatic varietals. It's a wine that can stand up to the best white blends of France's Rhone Valley and feel right at place.

Clos Figueras was established in 1997 when Charlotte and Christopher Cannin purchased the abandoned 10 hectare vineyard property, ‘Figueres’ on the recommendation of René Barbier who owns the famous Priorat estate, Clos Mogador. Christopher had founded Europvin, a wine import and shipping company based in Bordeaux that has gone on to become an important worldwide importer. Under Christopher’s guidance, Europvin was principally responsible for building the market in the late 1980s and early 1990s of the new wave of Priorat producers like Scala Dei, Clos Mogador and Alvaro Palacios. With the incredible success of Clos Figueras, Christopher has since sold Europvin so he can focus on his now 18 hectare estate which features old vine plantings of Carignan and Grenache as well as newer plantings of those varietals plus Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Viognier, Grenache Blanc, Chenin Blanc and Touriga Nacional.
