This wine has always been hugely popular in our $12/Under section for several years now. It is a richer style Pinot with generous but not too forward cherry and raspberry fruit on top of a nice mushroom earthy note. It is one heck of a bottle of wine for the price considering its considerable pedigree of Burgundy producer, Louis Latour. They source the grapes from their 75-acre vineyard domaine in the Var region of Provence that was planted in 1989. There the vines get plenty of Mediterranean sun but at 1,600 feet elevation they are also cooled at night by the mountain air. It is vinified and aged for 10 months in stainless steel vats at Louis Latour in Beaune, making it a vibrant and fresh wine ready to be enjoyed on its own or while you're making Boeuf Bourguignon.
