Emidio Pepe has been producing traditional wines since 1964. Grown using biodynamic methods, they de-stem and crush the grapes by hand. The wines undergo a lengthy maceration before fermentation with indigenous yeasts. They are unfiltered and aged in bottle until release, at which time they are hand-decanted into new bottles. Spicy aromas of ripe red berries, dark plum and violet accented by cumin. Terrific acid-fruit-tannin balance and penetrating red cherry, underbrush and sweet spice flavors. This lovely wine is fine-grained and finishes very long.
