The Domaine Daniel Largeot winery is located in Chorey-les-Beaune yet they also have vineyards in Aloxe Corton, Savigny-les-Beaune and Beaune Premier Cru. Daniel Largeot died and his daughter & son-in-law took over the Domaine 10 years ago. They farm sustainably, harvest by hand and use about 15% new oak. Importer Charles Neal says they make what he would call, “old school Burgundy without the sexy new oak velvety feel with a nice balance between terroir and fruit.” We like the Carre's classic old school approach as well and love their traditional style. This Saint-Romain has a nice earthiness without going into the funk zone and also shows good mid-palate depth. The finish reveals semi-firm tannins that soften with air yet give the wine its good structure.
