Description
How do legends live on? By the heirs taking care of it and being the only innovation…not changing anything. “We want to make wines like our grandfather,” says Mercedes López de Heredia, the oenologist responsible for this Rioja winegrowing monument. And that's exactly how the 2009 Reserva presents itself in the glass: light ruby, subtle nose of red fruits, bourbon vanilla and spices. Very delicate on the palate, with a fine structure and almost youthful tannin. Reminiscent of Burgundy, and light years away from the opulent blockbusters of the modern Riojas; this has to be one of the finest vintages of Viña Tondonia Reserva of recent years. Even more rare in half bottle format.
