In addition to all the wonderful Broadbent Madeiras we have proudly sold for years, we also like to feature their vintage Ports. And coming from the excellent 1997 vintage, this absolutely exemplifies the quality for which Broadbent has always been known and trusted. A joint production between, Dirk van der Niepoort and Bartholomew Broadbent who explain, "this blend has been further improved with the addition of Touriga Nacional to the Tinta Roriz and Tinta Amarella grapes, all from 70-year-old vines.Due to an exceptional Vintage year and low crop yields in Portugal's Douro Valley, production of the Broadbent 1997 Vintage Port is only 1,000 cases, approximately one-third of the 1994 Vintage. The resulting wine is one of fleshy concentration with ripe and generous fruit. This wine has both an immediate appeal and the strength and complexity to age for decades."
