Glenmorangie is located in Tain, Ross-shire in Northern Highlands.
John and William Mathesen found Glenmorangie in 1843 which was settled on a region famous for illicit distilling for hundreds of years. Production started in 1849. In 1931 the distillery faced closure for five years due to financial depression and Prohibition. In 1936 production resumed immediately.
In 2004 the distillery was sold to LVMH, just like Ardbeg and the result was incredible.
Glenmorangie is known for its delicious luxury whiskies nowadays. Glenmorangie Bacalta is the eight release in their Private Edition Releases. Bacalta is the first expression from the distillery which has been finished in sun-baked Malmsey Madeira casks.
Sweet and explosive whisky with peaches, nectarins and honeycomb. Palate expresses almond and nuts while apricots and honey are still dominant creating an easy to drink dram.
We would advise Glenmorangie Bacalta to those who are looking for a easy drinkable Scotch whisky with a good sweetness into it.
