We have worked with the wines of Textbook for several consecutive vintages now and were happy we could roll right into the 2016 vintage of the Napa Valley Chardonnay after going through a tremendous amount of the 13, 14 and 15. Coming from a fourth straight excellent vintage, this 16 is just as bright and sunny as the previous three with lemon citrus and apple notes as well as floral and fragrant notes on the nose. The medium bodied palate is all about juicy pear fruit with a nice creamy texture combined with great balancing acidity. The grapes were sourced from two vineyards in Napa Valley; 60% coming from Carneros at San Pablo Bay and 40% from a 26 year old site in Yountville. The wine was fermented in 80% stainless steel tanks and 20% new French oak barrels followed by 10 months of aging with frequent lees stirring which is what helps provide the creamy texture.
