This ‘Cholo’ Ribeiro Blanco is 100% Loureira made of fruit from their Miñoteira and Portela vineyards with an average vine age of 6-30 years. The grapes were hand harvested, followed by gentle pressing under a pneumatic press that included a small percentage of selected ripe stems. Fermentation took place over 15 days at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks followed by about four months of aging before bottling. The end result is a cool, breezy white with intriguing aromas of cheese rind (in a good way), nice weight on the mid-palate, clear minerality, excellent acidity and an appealing tea like tannin edge to the crisp finish. Agustin Formigo Raña, his wife Carmen de la Fuente de la Torre and their son, Manuel Formigo de la Fuente run the small Finca Teira estate which spans just under 10 acres of three organically farmed estate vineyards in the town of Beade in Ribeiro.
