It's not like we taste different Dornfelders every day but this particular one from Georg Albrecht Schneider is a fine example. With just enough juicy blackberry flavored fruit, a touch of earth and semi-firm tannins, this 2015 Dornfelder is both varietally correct and darn tasty. And, it's an even better value at only $12 a bottle! Weingut Georg Albrecht Schneider is an 8th generation wine estate in Nierstein along the Rhine River.
Kaspar Schneider first purchased vines from Napoleon at the end of the 18th century and the Schneider family has stridently maintained their coveted vineyards ever since. In 2010, after running things diligently for over 40 years, Albrecht Schneider turned the reins over to his daughter Ursula and her husband Steffen Muller who now look after their 15 hectares of Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Dornfelder and St. Laurent.
