Mr. Josh Jensen is a most impressive man. Universally heralded as a pioneer in crafting excellent, incredibly age-worthy Pinot Noir as it's done in Burgundy, he is a quiet, gentle soul who lets his wines do the talking. While Pinot Noir is his first love, he has been making equally excellent Chardonnay for decades. In fact, this 2015 Central Coast Chardonnay marks the 40th anniversary of this bottling. And we will jump at any chance to spread the Calera love, especially when we can case stack this delicious wine in our $25/Under section.
While Mr. Jensen is still very involved with the winery, Mike Waller is the day-to-day winemaker overseeing production. He describes the wine as follows, "tangerine, gardenia and Meyer lemon accented by Marcona almond and pear waft from this beautiful 2015 Chardonnay; succulent, bright and rich like key lime pie. The palate is flavorful, lush and lively with notes of mineral and citrus zest and a delightful zingy mouth coating richness persisting into a long, lingering finish."
