The Ameztoi family has been growing and making Txakoli wines in the province of Getaria for seven generations. Today, it is Ignacio Ameztoi who runs the sustainably farmed 20 hectare estate which is planted primarily to the white varietal of the region, Hondaribbi Zuri with smaller amounts of the red grape, Hondaribbi Beltza. We are big fans of their still wines and are especially excited to feature their sparkling Rosé. They call it, ‘Hijo de Rubentis’ which means ‘son of Rubentis’ meaning it’s the ‘son’ of the still rose bottling, ‘Rubentis’. It is 100% Hondarribi Beltza coming from vines between the ages of 20-150 years and was aged for 14 months on the lees before disgorgement with a dosage of 6 grams per liter.
