The grapes for this 100% Sangiovese winemaker Silvia Vannucci calls 'Pietranera' or 'black earth' were hand-picked and fermented on native yeasts. The wine was aged for 10 months in 10% new French oak barrels and then six months in bottle before release. We were thrilled to see it being gobbled up on our wine bar menu recently with guests buying it by the glass and bottle! It is not often one sees a 100% Sangiovese from Tuscany that is this complete - pretty aromas of white pepper to go along with juicy flavors of plum and licorice on the medium bodied palate and very well integrated tannins on the silky and acidity laced finish. We will attempt to keep this baby on the shelf as long as it's available.
